US Blocks Israeli Settlement Construction

Secretary of State John Kerry condemned Israeli settlements saying a US veto of the resolution would be giving Israel the green lignt for "unfettered settlement construction." The Secretary also called out Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu for pandering to "the most rightwing (coalition) in Israeli history" and breaking international law.
Outside of Israel and the Jewish lobby in the US many describe the Israeli reaction to the US abstaining from voting on UN resolution 2334 as over reaction to a futile gesture by a departing US president. At least he didn't vote for the document. Now that would have been a bold move. However inside the Israeli sphere of influence, the rebuke is unexcusable. They are ready to stop even pretending to honor International Law and peace in the region.
Hubris, pride and overconfidence has undermined the legitimacy of many Bibi claims. Many of them do not make sense outside of the Jewish lobby in the United States and his own coalition. What sense does it make to try to destroy the world's major peacemaking body? A whole lot, if your objective is war and conquest in the first place. The entire world is not anti Semitic. Israeli hawks threaten war with their neighbors because the United States has given them the best weapons money can buy. We should be able to coax them into a more amenable position. There are major disagreements with the Israeli right wing position both inside and outside of Israel and world peace hangs in the balance.
